Shizukuishi Prince Hotel
Discover the Beauty of Winter at a Mountain Resort Adorned with Rainbows
Located in central Iwate Prefecture in the Tohoku region of Japan, Shizukuishi is known as a “town of rainbows.” Surrounded by the rich natural beauty of Mt. Iwate, its clear air and expansive sky create ideal conditions for beautiful rainbows. In this special place, where tranquility meets majestic natural scenery, you can indulge in relaxation and discover wonders rarely found in the city.
A Stay Embraced by the Tranquility of the Mountains
Surrounded by Shizukuishi’s clear sky and majestic mountains, Shizukuishi Prince Hotel offers guests the opportunity to experience the changing beauty of the four seasons up close. The Superior Floors on the upper levels feature warm, inviting interiors accented throughout with traditional Iwate arts and crafts, including Nanbu iron kettles and indigo dyeing, offering a special stay that brings guests closer to the culture of the region.
At the hotel’s Outdoor Hot Spring “Takakura Onsen,” guests can enjoy the unusual sight of nishikigoi fish swimming right beside the open-air bath. Soaking in the hot spring while watching the koi glide leisurely through the water offers a unique Shizukuishi experience of peaceful relaxation.
A World-Class Stage Blanketed in Snow
Adjacent to the hotel, Shizukuishi Ski Resort is a renowned ski destination that hosted the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1993. It offers world-class course design and exceptional powder snow. Its vast, open slopes feature a diverse selection of courses for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers.
Warm Lights Brighten the Winter Night
In 2025, Shizukuishi Prince Hotel and Shizukuishi Ski Resort both marked anniversary milestones. A variety of events are once again planned for the 2026–2027 season, offering new ways to enjoy après-ski.
Located in the premises of the hotel, Austria House is a log cabin built for the Austrian team during the 1993 World Ski Championships using timber from Austria and traditional construction techniques that require no nails or screws. Donated to the hotel after the championships, it is now used for parties and events. On selected dates this winter, it will be transformed into the “Night Lodge Bar,” where guests can enjoy wine cocktails and whisky amid the warm glow of its lights.
Guests can also enjoy dining experiences in kamakura, traditional dome-shaped snow huts associated with festivals and winter recreation in Japan’s snowy regions. With magical illuminations and reservation-only dining featuring warm dishes, they offer a distinctive taste of winter in Japan’s snow country.
At Shizukuishi Prince Hotel, a relaxing hotel stay, active adventures on the slopes, and exciting experiences after nightfall all await. Why not make this hotel the destination for your next journey and experience everything winter has to offer?
