From May to August, during the early summer season, The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu will host a special lounge in collaboration with Gion Tsujiri, a long-established tea shop in Kyoto. The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu is a hotel that has preserved and revitalized a former elementary school built about 90 years ago, cherished for generations by the local community. Gion Tsujiri is a historic tea shop that, over its 160-year legacy, has played a vital role in preserving traditional Japanese culture by sharing the flavor and enjoyment of tea. Through this collaboration, both parties aim to preserve and pass down the cultures they have cultivated over the years, bringing the traditions and joys of tea to a new generation.
Matcha, one of the most beloved offerings at Gion Tsujiri, is not only enjoyed around the world, but is also known for its health and beauty benefits, thanks to its rich content of vitamins, catechins, and other beneficial nutrients. In the guest lounge, visitors can enjoy a selection of teas along with Gion Tsujiri’s signature matcha sweets, offering a multifaceted experience of tea appreciation.
The event takes place during one of Kyoto’s most beautiful seasons—when the city is bathed in the fresh greenery of early summer. While Kyoto is famous for its cherry blossoms and autumn foliage, its vibrant green landscape during this time is another hidden gem worth experiencing. The guest lounge is adorned with moss and bamboo, not only offering a sense of tranquility and healing, but also exuding the serene ambiance of a traditional Japanese garden.
Through this collaboration with Gion Tsujiri, held from May to August, guests will have the opportunity to experience Japan’s world-renowned tea culture in a more personal and accessible way.
